Detroit Thermostat Installation

Your home’s thermostat system controls the overall effectiveness and efficiency of your heating and cooling system. Andy’s Statewide Heating & Air Conditioning professionals can help you stay comfortable for less money each month with programmable thermostats that provide great returns on a small investment.

The thermostat is a simple but incredibly useful device, a bit like your home’s first remote control. Today, from the ease and comfort of your hallway, bedroom, or den, you can fire up your home’s heat with the turn of a dial or push of a button. After that, it works all by itself to deliver the exact room temperature you need.

Digital thermostats

What type of home thermostat is right for you?

There are two basic types of thermostats: electromechanical and digital. Each type has its own unique advantages depending on your budget, home size, and lifestyle.

Electromechanical Thermostats

Electromechanical thermostats are the old-time numbers with little metal coils and a mercury tube inside. As the temperature in a room shifts, the coils either contract or expand, pushing the mercury to one end of its tube or the other which signals the HVAC to either turn on or off.  While they aren’t as accurate as digital models, they are economical and simple to use. The Andy’s Statewide team can help you maintain and repair your system if you already have an electromechanical thermostat installed, but fewer and fewer new thermostats of this type are being installed around the country due to it not being environmentally friendly – and there are some great digital thermostat alternatives.

Digital Thermostats

Digital thermostats reflect more current technology. Instead of metal coils, they have electric temperature sensors and microprocessors. Most models today are programmable, meaning you can set a specific time window for your system to start and stop each day based on when you’re most likely to be at home or out at work.

It’s kind of like DVR for temperature. Just set it and forget it! This thermostat is much more accurate at keeping your home comfortable and will quietly keep your monthly utility bills in check.

We’re also proud to offer the new, award-winning Nest Learning Thermostat. Nest programs itself over time based on your lifestyle at home, and you can adjust it from anywhere using your smartphone!
